Daria Edström is a jewelry artist based in Sweden. She is a recipient of the Wadköping Scholarship 2021 and 3rd place winner of FIO contest in 2021 organised by Galeria Alice Floriano in Brazil. Edström’s works have also been included in national and international exhibitions such as The 6th Biennal of Contemporary Metal Art in Lithuania and Brussel Jewellery Week 2022. She is currently completing a master’s degree with a specialisation in Jewellery and Corpus at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm.

Daria Edström's artistic exploration centres on the dynamic relationship between the body and jewelry. She delves into the boundary between where the body ends and the jewelry object begins, researching whether a jewelry item can maintain its vitality independently of the body's presence.

Working across various mediums, such as ice, epoxy, and metal, Edström's focus lies in capturing the essence of movement and color by freezing and encapsulating the ephemerality of a moment. Edström is inspired by the aesthetic qualities of impressionism and her works could be described as jewelry impressionism, and translates the essence of movement, color, light, and nature into her works. Edström delves into the captivating realm of Impressionism. Impressionist artworks capture the essence of a moment, inviting viewers to live here and now. Using metal as a primary medium, she employs techniques such as hammering and chasing to emulate the brushstrokes seen in Impressionist masterpieces, creating a dynamic interplay of shapes, volumes, and. Fragile enamel, working in tandem with metal, contributes to the evocative representation of luminosity and mystique, echoing the unique qualities found in Impressionist depictions.

Her current focus involves working with enamelled steel sculptures. Notably, steel, renowned for its industrial strength and association with bullet production, undergoes a meticulous transformation into delicate-looking flowers. In this process, enamelled steel imparts fragility while capturing color and a fleeting moment that defies permanence.

Edström's artistic journey navigates the intersection of strength and delicacy, exploring the transformative nature of materials in the pursuit of capturing transient beauty.
